After going through my own Adverse Childhood Experiences, I was drawn to the mental health field to better understand people and human behavior. In 2018, I was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for the treatment of trauma and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), and it quickly became my specialty.
In addition to EMDR, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person-centered, psycho-dynamic, narrative, somatic-based approaches, and more.Â
A little about my approach:
I take a person centered approach to therapy, which means I believe you’re the expert on your own life. I don’t believe my job is to fix you or tell you how to live your life.
Instead, I believe you already have many of the answers. Sometimes trauma, anxiety, or life’s experiences make it harder to access that inner wisdom. My role is to help you reconnect with it by creating a space where you can better understand yourself, make sense of your experiences, and recognize patterns that may no longer be serving you. My hope is that, through that process, you’ll gain greater insight, feel less stuck, and experience more freedom from the past so it no longer defines your present or limits your future.
Because our sessions are guided by what feels most important to you, it can be helpful to come in with an idea of what you’d like to explore or work on. From there, we’ll let the conversation unfold naturally.
While person-centered therapy is the foundation of my approach, I also offer and specialize in EMDR therapy, which follows a more structured process. If you’re interested in learning more about EMDR, I invite you to visit the EMDR and Intensives page.Â
I look forward to hearing your story.
Please note: Although I hold a degree in forensic psychology, I am not a licensed forensic psychologist, and Be Free Counseling does not offer forensic psychology services.
