Be Free and Thrive
Online Therapy for Adults in Ohio
Welcome, I’m glad that you’re here. Making the decision to seek help is not easy.
My name is Olena, and at Be Free Counseling, I provide virtual trauma treatment and EMDR therapy for adults living in Ohio.
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and I’m here to walk beside you as you find your way to a better and more fulfilling life.
Are you tired of feeling stuck in old patterns? Reliving the past? Exhausted from anxiety, depression, anger, hypervigilance, or chronic stress? Have you tried talk therapy before but didn’t experience the relief you were hoping for?
You do not have to continue living this way. Healing is possible.
I believe that clients are experts on their lives, and ultimately know what is best for them and what they need. I won’t make decisions for you, but together, we will collaborate on how to best move forward and improve your well-being.

Temporary Circumstances
Temporary Circumstances is a free mental health podcast available on this website and major podcast platforms. My co-host, Cora Mayfield, and I, both licensed professionals, discuss trauma treatment, EMDR therapy, and a wide range of mental health topics. We debunk myths, explore overlooked subjects, and provide educational insights to help normalize conversations about mental health.
The podcast was inspired by my former mentor, Bill Mason, who passed away in 2019. The name reflects a belief that carried me through difficult times: that everything in life is temporary – and this pain, too, shall pass.

Education
- B.A. in Psychology from Ohio University
- M.A. in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology
- M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University
After going through my own Adverse Childhood Experiences, I was drawn to the mental health field to better understand people and human behavior. In 2018, I was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for the treatment of trauma and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), and it quickly became my specialty.
My approach focuses on identifying and addressing root causes rather than offering temporary fixes. In addition to EMDR, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person-centered, and somatic-based approaches.
Although I hold a degree in forensic psychology, I am not a licensed forensic psychologist, and Be Free Counseling does not offer forensic psychology services.
